ANTOR appoints board members as it marks 70 years

The Association of National Tourist Offices and Representatives (ANTOR) has appointed its new board for 2021-22.

The association is celebrating its 70th anniversary this week, and the new board will be reviewing its membership benefits, including the creation of an online community, quarterly research on consumer travel behaviour, and organising a London based networking venue. It is also reviewing its brand DNA.

Two new vice chairmen have been appointed to the board.

Anthony Stuart, director for Europe, India and the Middle East at The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism has been named vice-chairman for membership

Charles Wilson, who heads up B2B sales at the German National Tourism Office in London, becomes vice-chairman events.

Tolene Van Der Merwe, UK & Ireland director for the Malta Tourism Authority has been elected to the board and she joins re-elected members Caroline Beaton-Moscatelli, UK sales and marketing manager for Visit Finland; Katarina Hobbs, director of CzechTourism UK and Ireland, and Gabriel Dorch, senior travel trade manager UK, and country manager, at Visit Sweden UK.

Ruby James, from the Korea Tourism Organisation, has been co-opted onto the board.

Executive secretary Alison Cryer confirmed that Tracey Poggio, who heads up the Gibraltar Tourist Board’s UK marketing team, will continue in her role as chairman.

Poggio said: “As I enter my 15th year as chairman I am delighted to welcome new faces to the board who will be invaluable in shaping the future of the association.”

She added: “The Secretariat, headed up by Alison Cryer, throughout the pandemic has maintained close contact with all members and provided exceptional COVID information, market updates, and relevant events and generated press coverage on which to build the future of ANTOR” Poggio added.

Nadine Rankin, the UK representative of Tobago and Nassau Paradise Island, will continue in her role as treasurer.

ANTOR was founded in 1951 by 10 destinations, and today membership totals nearly 60 destinations. Its 70th anniversary was marked on July 18.
